With Mother’s Day fast approaching, are you out of ideas on what to do for the most important woman in your life? Don’t worry, we got you covered with ideas that involve lots of quality time with your mum and will not cost you a fortune!

1. Enjoy the theatre with your mum

The beautiful thing about plays is that there are so many to choose from, and they provide memories that you and your mum can bond over, and discuss long after the play is over. Depending on where you live and your preference, you can indulge your mum in a play at the local theatre or a big West End show. To make it even more memorable, you can treat your mum to some bubbly at the interval! Particularly mum-friendly plays we highly recommend include The Book of Mormon, The Lion King and The Phantom of the Opera.

2. Take your mum to the spa

What better way to celebrate your amazing mum than taking her to an indulgent pampering session at the local spa? Get that white robe and slippers on, have a toast with some pink fizz and treat your mum to that facial she has always wanted! There are loads of great deals out there, a quick search on the internet for “spa days” will bring you a plethora of options. Our personal favourite is a spa day where you get full access to the facilities and one joint treatment, imagine a deep tissue massage followed by a relaxing steamy sauna to completely destress. This is the ultimate definition of quality time, and your mum will love you for it!

3. Treat your mum to a champagne afternoon tea

Who doesn’t love afternoon tea? Afternoon tea typically includes a selection of traditional sandwiches cut into rectangles, scones with jam and clotted cream, pastries and of course a pot of tea of your choice. Treat your mum like the lady she is, with this fine experience! Have a peek online, as many 5-star hotels have great offerings. Some even have pianists and cellists playing for the guests to enhance the atmosphere. There is also the option to have a glass of champagne to add a luxurious touch to your afternoon tea, which we highly recommend!

4. Cook a 3-course meal for your mum

There is no better way to say “I love you” than to cook a 3-course meal for your mum, from scratch! It will be very endearing to your mum that you spent hours of hard graft and effort to pull this off, trust us that this ranks high on the quality time scale. No one knows better than you what her favourite foods are, so better get on to that online shopping you were meant to do weeks ago! Our recommendation is to cook some type of comfort food for a main to add to the ‘cosy-together’ factor, such as lasagne or cottage pie (which can be made vegan or vegetarian). For starter, you can’t go wrong with a caprese salad, and for dessert our choice is anything with chocolate. Finally, make sure she is treated to a bottle of your finest fizz for that extra special touch!

5. Have a night in with fizz and mum

Make sure your mum has no plans in the evening, and ask her to stay over at yours for the night. Order a takeaway of her choice, put on a movie that you know she will love. Get some snacks ready, like crisps, salted nuts, olives, and sweets. Put on your pjs and get comfortable in the sofa. Crack up a bottle of your finest fizz from Fizz Republic and have a quality night in, just the two of you. Reminisce over old memories and tell her how much she means to you. Ask her questions about her childhood, and thought-provoking questions like what advice she would have given herself 20 years ago. It will be like getting to know each other all over again, with the focus being on her. For this special night in, our favourite fizz is Don Guerrino Sparkling Malbec, a dry sparkling wine from Brazil.
